Awards and Accreditations
British Association For Fair Trade Shops & SuppliersMyakka is proud to be recognised as an importer and retail member of BAFTS (British Association for Fair Trade Shops & Suppliers) since August 2006. All of our furniture is sourced in the fair trade manner and 90% of everything else we sell too. The remaining little bit is a work in progress and has still been scrutinised by our eagle eyes. We're all about making a tangible difference so our supply chain is highly visible and everyone is valued as part of a winning team.
Ethical AwardWe received the Ethical Award in August 2009 and still hold the award today. It puts Myakka in the top third of companies deemed to "excel in ethical consumerism with an excellent corporate social responsibility strategy". That's the long-winded way of saying we trade ethically and responsibly with regard to people, animals and the environment. We've earned our place in the Good Shopping Guide too.
Somerset Business AwardsIn 2010, Myakka was proud to be voted Business of the Year and won a further Service Excellence award adding local recognition to our ethical practices. In 2011, we were runners up in the Business of the Year and Marketing Awards and while we'd have loved to have stayed at No.1, it was a busy year of worthwhile distractions. In 2012, we were proud to again be finalists in the Service Excellence award – an area which we continue to focus upon as our business grows. The Somerset Business Awards are organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses to celebrate business success across Somerset.
Ethical JunctionWe were invited to become a member of Ethical Junction in 2009 which is a community of responsible organisations who care about doing better for people and the planet. The shopping forum and blogs help ethically minded people to find what they're looking for more easily.
