FAQs

Q: Are all products available for immediate delivery?

A: We aim to hold all products in stock in our Warehouse to dispatch to you just as soon as we receive your order. On occasion despite our best planning, some products sell faster than we predict and there may be a short delay on the stock.

In these cases, we'll be in touch as soon as you've placed your order to confirm the stock arrival date and will keep you informed of the time to dispatch. We do fulfill orders according to when we receive them so by placing your order, you will be guaranteed to be allocated the next available stock.

Q: Will the furniture fit?

A: Before you order, please remember to check whether the furniture you want will physically fit in your home! We'd urge you to get the measure of doors, narrow halls and stairways or awkward access routes before you order larger items. Our delivery teams do a sterling job but if it won't fit, they won't force it!

Q: How precise are the dimensions?

A: All our dimensions are in centimetres and in the order: Width x Depth x Height. Because so much of our furniture is handmade, measurements may vary by up to 2cm either way. Our soft furnishings are also largely handmade and, because of their uniqueness, are subject to some size variation. On a rare occasion, we may have to alter the specifications of our products but we will let you know about any changes before we finalise and dispatch your order.

Q: Are the colours I see on my screen accurate?

A: The colours of our hardwoods do vary by their very nature. So do our soft furnishings which are created using natural dyes. Your monitor, graphics card and lighting may also alter the colours a bit. We do our best but we can't guarantee an exact match.

Q: How do I care for my furniture?

A: Wax your furniture occasionally with Mylands Wax which helps to protect it. We recommend Mylands Antique Mahogany Wax for our sheesham collections (Mallani, Thakat, Jasmeen and Hathi) which will not only help protect it, but it will also develop and deepen the lustre of the grain. We recommend Mylands Clear Wax for our reclaimed pine, monkey pod and mango collections: Surin, Maison, Milborne and Vandara. Click here to watch our short video on furniture care.

Avoid direct sunlight: As with any solid wood item, it's wise to avoid direct sunlight or heat sources as they may cause movement or cracking of the wood.

Keep mats & coasters handy: Because our furniture is traditionally waxed (not lacquered or varnished), heat and liquids may cause a bloom or ring marks to appear.

If you should get a ring mark on your hardwood furniture, click here and we'll show you how to remove it in moments.

Q: Are the home accessories fair trade too?

A: Almost all are and we're working on the rest. As well as all the products we source from our friends in India, we have a select group of UK-based suppliers who operate fair trade policies and like us, are recognised by BAFTS.

Q: How should I look after my soft furnishings?

A: Because many of our rugs, cushions and accessories are bright with beads, colour and sparkle, we’ve put any special care instructions on their product pages. All our other textiles are machine washable on a cool setting, under 40°C. Please be aware of possible dye transfer between dark fabric and pale carpets or sofas.
